Senior
Citizens
The Cheyenne
Pet Clinic has a program for our clients who are over 60 years of age.
We offer a 10% discount on all services, vaccinations, and surgeries.
This does not include drugs or pet foods because of the low mark-up on
these items. Please let our receptionists know if you qualify because
so many of you look so young, we're often embarrassed to ask!

Tours
Tours of the clinic can be arranged for groups such as scout troops
or school classes, or individuals who haven't seen the back half of the
clinic. Our clinic won a national award for design and construction given
by Veterinary Economics Magazine in 1987 and we are proud to show it off.
Please let our receptionists know if you'd like a tour so an appointment
can be made. For an online tour of the clinic, click

Drop-off
Service
Many pet owners who are either pressed for time or whose schedule
doesn't permit adequate time to bring a pet in and then take it home,
take advantage of our Drop-off Service. Just call us as usual for an appointment
and give the receptionist as much information as possible. Let the receptionist
know what time to expect your arrival, then you may drop off your pet
as early as 7:15 a.m. We will then perform whatever services are needed
and you can usually pick up your pet at noon (unless surgery was performed)
or after you are off work. You can talk with a doctor at that time, if
necessary. Lunchtime drop-offs are also available, and the doctors will
see your pet as soon as they return from lunch.

Physical
Exams
Examinations of your pet are recommended annually until 8-10 years
of age, after which semi-annual visits are needed. Pets are routinely
given examinations during visits for vaccinations.

Vaccinations
Puppies and kittens should receive a series of immunizations
starting at 6-8 weeks of age, followed by yearly boosters. Pets kept mainly
indoors need vaccinations also, and may even be more susceptible to infectious
diseases, due to the lack of natural immunity.
Dogs are vaccinated for canine distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, coronavirus,
parainfluenza, and rabies. Yearly boosters are recommended.
Cats are vaccinated for feline distemper, feline leukemia, rhinotracheitis,
calicivirus, and rabies. Yearly boosters are recommended.
Vaccines for Kennel Cough (Bordatella) are recommended if your dog is
to be boarded at a kennel or if they are to be around a lot of other dogs
(Dog show, dog parks, etc.).
We also have the new vaccine for Giardia (a protozoan parasite) that you
might consider if your pet is going to be camping with you in the mountains.
Also available are vaccines for Lyme Disease, Leptospirosis, and rattlesnake
venom.

Routine
Dentistry
Learn more about the importance of good pet dental care, and how bacteria
in the mouth can cause serious health problems for pets. Without good
dental care, most dogs and cats will show signs of oral disease by age
three, which puts them at risk for other diseases. For more information
on dental care, please visit www.petdental.com.

Geriatric
Care
The doctor may recommend a Geriatric workup for your older pet, which
could include a blood chemistry profile, chest x-ray, EKG and complete
physical. Pre-surgical examinations along with an EKG and blood profile
are routinely performed on any older pet prior to surgery or dentistry.

Laboratory
Our laboratory
provides important diagnostic information in treating illnesses in pets
and in determining whether your pet is in top-notch shape or not. Chemistry
panels, complete blood counts (CBC), urinalysis, fecal examinations, Feline
Leukemia/FIV tests, Brucellosis, and heartworm tests are just some of
the procedures performed in our laboratory. Pathology specimens are usually
sent to the Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory in Laramie, and special tests
such as Thyroid panels are sent to a lab in Ft. Collins.

Surgery
Our surgical suite is state-of-the-art with the newest, safest anesthetic
machines, heating pads, and a positive pressure ventilation system. All
anesthetized animals are monitored with a cardiac/respiratory monitor
to insure a safe and speedy procedure and recovery. Our Carbon
Dioxide Laser offers a totally new dimension to many surgical procedures.
Video Otoscope
At the Cheyenne Pet Clinic, we are always looking for new techniques and equipment to help us take care of your pet. Video Otoscopy is an exciting new field of diagnostics and treatment. This high-tech instrument is a tiny color digital camera connected to a tapered probe that we use to perform examinations deep inside the ear, nose or throat. It transmits images to a monitor so that the ear canal and eardrum can be visualized clearly. Pictures of these images can be printed out for your pet's record or for you to take home.
Short endoscopes such as the Video Otoscope can be used in many ways to improve our diagnosis and treatment of common problems of the ear or throat. We use the camera to diagnosis and treat ear infections, polyps, and blockages; and to pinpoint dental of throat conditions as well as genitourinary problems. The Video Otoscope also allows us to treat serious ear problems because it has an attachment which allows deep ear cleaning, often the first and most effective step in therapy. In addition, the Video Otoscope can be used to perform surgery in conjunction with our laser. We can also perform biopsies deep in the ear canal, remove foreign objects and determine the condition of the ear drum.
An entire new line of antibiotics and flushes made especially for ear disease are available as well.
